Genealogy Resources

For folks looking for information about their Lyme ancestors:

Call or email the library for the pamphlet Lyme Sources for Genealogy Research.  This 2006 publication lists much of the material in town, where it is housed in Lyme, and the hours each place is open.  It also contains a list  cemeteries, and directions to each.  This pamphlet is presently not in a digital format.  We will happily mail it to you.

Lyme Room:

The Lyme Room at the Converse Free Library is formally open most Thursday mornings from 10-noon and Saturday mornings from 9-11. Call ahead to be sure.  603-795-4622.

The Lyme Room contains the library's collection of Lyme, Upper Valley and New Hampshire history,  books by Lyme authors, and the Historian's collection of print resources.  The Room also contains a computer from which genealogy databases may be accessed; staff and volunteers will help with genealogy research during the above hours or by appointment.

For Lyme folks doing genealogy research about their families from elsewhere:

The New Hampshire State Library uses federal funds to make the following database available to NH residents. Heritage Quest may be accessed from your home with a password, available at the library.  Just ask us.
Heritage Quest: This online database has over 25,000 genealogies on line, the entire U.S. Federal Census and PERSI.
