For those interested in evaluating, scanning, organizing and preserving old slides and negatives, the library is purchasing a scanner and will have a light box for public use.  The programs below are preparation for using this equipment.

Tuesday, January 12 at 1:30 pm  EVALUATING AND SCANNING SLIDES AND NEGATIVES

Robin Taylor of Lyme will teach how to evaluate and scan slides and negatives to the library staff and all interested people on Tuesday, January 12 at 1:30PM at the Converse Free Library. Although this scanner instruction will focus on the specific scanner the library has just purchased - the Epson V500 - much of the information about image scanning should be transferable to other consumer hardware and software. Use of a light box to quickly evaluate slides and negatives will also be demonstrated. . Bring a slide or print to work with... no guaranty there will be time to try them all, but a few can be used as samples....and everyone can use the light box.

The library scanner is available during library hours for public use. This service and program is part of the Library's Genealogy series and the new Lyme Room.
